One maneuver we can use to diagnose left posterior canal BPPV is the left Dix-Hallpike. To do this maneuver you have your patient look over their shoulder and lie straight back, the whole time looking at your patients eyes, looking for up beating nystagmus with left torsion. You would stay here for 30 seconds until or until you see nystagmus and that nystagmus has fatigued. Then we sit up and looking at the eyes for any nystagmus as they sit up.
